Zero Talent Zero Success?

Zero Talent Zero Success?

Can you be (financially) successful without talent?

Of course, being a millionaire is not the be all and end all, however if given a chance we’d all opt for more money, wouldn’t we? But what happens if you weren’t gifted with the voice of Mariah Carey, the legs of Usain Bolt, or the innovative genius of Elon Musk? Is aiming for billionaire or even millionaire status a myth for us mere mortals with no talent. Should we accept our financial limits due to not being “talented”? I’ve often wondered this on my journey of self-awareness and I’ve concluded that having a recognisable talent just makes it easier, especially in the world of lifestyle and entertainment. Which is typically what society is told to revere. Additionally I think sometimes fame and success are wrongly interchanged.

However outside of lifestyle and entertainment there are more people that have that even more financial success, (cc: Forbes Rich List I ran through top 100 people and there are not any entertainers holding a position). The top 100 is made up of business individuals that are relatively unknown by the masses, with a few exceptions.

These are the people who sign off the likes of Mariah Carey, Usain Bolt and JK Rowling’s payments, they may not have the obvious things our society deem as talent but they do have talent in other areas and creatively use what they have, to disrupt and create new industries.

Maybe this is where us mere mortals with no obvious talent can excel???

Off the back of this I have created a list of 8 things that require zero talent but all (financially) successful people have:

  • Self-Awareness
  • Positive Mind-Set
  • Work Ethic
  • Patience
  • Doing Extra
  • Being Prepared
  • Ready to Learn
  • Opportunistic
  • Knowing how to Focus

Ps the man in the pic is Amancio Ortega the 2nd richest being in the world according to Forbes, he owns Zara, Massimo Dutti and Pull & Bear, more importantly has zero obvious talent!

(We’re in good company).
